Taylor's was founded in 1692. For over three centuries it has remained family owned, independent and dedicated to producing the finest ports of all styles. The company owns some of the most distinguished estates of the Douro Valley in northwestern Portugal including the legendary Quinta de Vargellas source of many of Taylor's reknowned vintage ports. The firms extensive cask aged reserves and mastery of the skiful art of blending, both acquired over generations of family ownership, make Taylors a benchmark producer of aged tawny port. This unique collection contains four rare old tawnies which together represent a Century of ageing in oak casks. As they mature, aged tawny ports slowly mellow in contact with the wood, their colour and gradually becoming more amber and their aromas intensifying and gaining in richness and complexity with the passing of time. The Taylor's Century collection offers a fascinating opportunity to taste four sumptuous old tawnies of different ages, from a seductive 10 year old with it's ripe and luscious fruitiness to a very rare 40 year old in which the fine mellow aromas of wood ageing have been concentrated almost to an essence. These wines have been fully matured in the Taylors cellars in Oporto and are ready to drink now.
